The Asia Society Policy Institute is “The leading force in forging closer ties between Asia and the West through arts, education, policy and business outreach.”  This project lays out the case for China and US cooperation on climate policy as the two largest carbon producers in the world and the outsize impact these nations can have on the future of climate change through their cooperation.

Working at Schema Design I built the landing page opening interactive from static designs by creative director Sergei Larionov. The piece uses d3.js and d3-geo.js to create the interactive visualizations from data provided by the client.  The most challenging, and interesting, part of the build process was using html canvas to render the spinnable globe from geographic climate data, rather than the typical SVG rendering used in d3.  This allowed for much more performant real time rendering even on handheld devices.
