[H&R] National Debt Clock, and old times

With all that financial hoo-ha, I found out that the national debt clock in the Ave. of the Americas in Manhattan is getting replaced next year because it doesn't have enough digits for "tens of trillions," and found this REALLY old article, which seems totally foreign to me now (especially that last part about Gore vs. Bush in the "upcoming" election):
