Installation at 911 Media Arts Gallery
Documentation: Video Studio Sketches Install Process Source Media and Software Finished Installation Installation Process The individual cut-out forms are folded, curved, bent, hung, twisted, tied and looped together, either being suspended by cord or attached directly to the wall with finishing nails. The paper forms begin to interact with each other visually to create new combinations of shape and form that can not be completely predicted. Because the forms are arranged in three dimensional shapes they also interact with each other in new ways depending on which angle they are being viewed from. The tangled mass of forms allows new images to appear as the viewer changes physical location in the installation environment. The entire creation process is done in the gallery itself, for ease of execution and also to ensure that the forms are tailored to the site. Additionally speakers are hung or placed in the space in order to provide the audio complement to the piece. The audio and video are rendered presented by the same piece of software running on a computer connected to a pair of speakers and a video projector. Three computer/speaker/projector sets were used in this installation. |
