Custom software, projector, CPU. Presented at NBBJ Seattle February 2019.
A new work in the Subtle Chroma series exhibited in mid-February at NBBJ’s Seattle headquarters in the lobby area there known as the Giant Steps. This piece is designed to interact with the ambient light in the space and tailored to its specific dimensions and features. Custom software written in the Processing programming language continuously generates slowly animating color gradients governed by low frequency oscillators affecting their size, position, rotation and opacity. The oscillations are slightly offset in duration so that the effect rarely, if ever, repeats itself. These works are meant to somewhat fade into the background and lived with over longer periods of time, almost functioning as a architectural surface material.
